Global CBPR launches two data protection and privacy certifications

28/05/2025 | CBPR

The Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum has announced the launch of two new certifications:

The new certifications are designed to provide organisations with a straightforward and transparent method for ensuring the protection of personal information as it moves across different jurisdictions, thereby building trust in cross-border data flows. The initiative aims to provide organisations with a robust system founded on principles of trust and accountability, intended to help them navigate the complexities inherent in cross-border data transfers.

The Global CBPR and PRP Systems are set to go live on 2 June 2025, with around 100 companies already on board and certified. For organisations seeking certification, mandatory assessments will be conducted by approved Accountability Agents (AAs). These independent third-party organisations are responsible for verifying compliance with the Global CBPR and PRP Program Requirements, ensuring that certified organisations consistently meet baseline standards for data protection and privacy.
