Irish High Court grants TikTok temporary reprieve on data transfer ban

The Irish High Court has granted TikTok a temporary stay on a Data Protection Commission (DPC) order to suspend data transfers to China from the European Economic Area (EEA) by 29 November 2025. Mr Justice Mark Sanfey ruled the stay would last until early October, when the company can seek a longer stay pending its full challenge against the DPC's decision, which includes a €530 million fine.

TikTok claims the suspension could cause billions of euros in losses, with €109 million already projected.
